Reducing traffic volumes

An independent assessment of other Care Communities has shown that a Care Community has less than 25% of the normal traffic generated by a housing development. Residents can choose to travel at off peak times. Also, traffic generated by a Close Care Community will be off peak due to staff shift patterns.

Whilst some people will own their own vehicles for which parking is provided, most will take advantage of the transport service. The vehicle fleet is used to run regular trips for shopping purposes and to places
of interest.

Benefits to the housing chain

By providing a better, more practical alternative to living in a large family home, residents moving into a CCRC will release large family homes back into the community.

This will permit families in the community to trade up, (instead of having to extend their existing home) and in effect release homes at the middle and the bottom of the housing market back into the community.

Community benefits and local jobs

As the Care Community will be dedicated for older people, it means that issues of anti-social behaviour, vandalism and noise simply don’t exist – making it the ideal neighbour.

Events hosted at the Care Community could be enjoyed by retired members of the wider community and a new Care Community will also bring plenty of employment opportunities; not just nursing care and administrative staff, but also cooks, waiters, gardeners, hairdressers, event organisers and office staff.
